Tell your grand kids you ran the Pyongyang Marathon in the Peoples Democratic of North Korea! This incredible event is only the fifth year that foreign tourists and amateurs are welcomed to compete or spectate from the grandstands of Kim Il Sung stadium. Get stuck in and compete side by side with local athletes or enjoy the opportunity to watch the opening and closing of the ceremony in the heart of the stadium with 100,000 locals cheering on.

Although centered around the marathon, this trip will also include the most important DPRK historical and cultural sites. You’ll be visiting the must see sites of Pyongyang city including the Korean War Museum (with its collection of American tanks!), the enormous bronze statues of the leaders, Kim Il Sung Square and much more. And of course, no trip to the DPRK is complete without a visit to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), where the country is separated from South Korea. Here we can explore ‘the most tense place on earth’ with a Korean People’s Army officer as our local guide.

Marathon running fees are listed below and not included in the tour cost. A race timer will be included in your marathon fee. The maximum time limit for the full marathon is 4 hours, the half marathon is 2.5 hours and the mini marathon is 2 hours. All running participants will receive a personally addressed certificate, with the top three men and women in each distance receiving ceramic vases at the Pyongyang Marathon awards ceremony held in front of a packed Mayday Stadium. There are just 1500 places available and entries are on a first-come, first-served basis so book now to avoid disappointment. Registrations close mid-February of 2018. And if running isn’t your thing you can join the locals in spectating from the Kim Il Sung Stadium where a football match will take place during the race
