& Kangbashi-Ordos Ghost City Tour

Jul 3rd - Jul 8th 2020
6 Days

At a glance

Starting from Beijing, we take a long train ride to the city of Ordos, an infamous ghost town in inner Mongolia. While somewhat more populated now, the region of Kangbashi remains largely uninhabited and provides a startling contrast to the more bustling cities of China, as well as having an interesting Mongolian flair.

Urban exploration doesn’t get much more interesting than this, giving us unparalleled access to empty urban complexes, hospitals, museums and even an 80,000 seater stadium that’s as silent as a grave. The city is empty, but not because it’s abandoned. It’s new and waiting for people to come! Such strange oddities are fading fast and within a few years, Kangbashi may be just like any other city in China… With an additional Mongolian twist.

Of course we won’t be stopping there! We’ll visit the decidedly more populated Chinese/Mongolian city of Hohhot and the curious border town of Erlian, just before either heading back or crossing over into the Republic of Mongolia proper. If you want to get a true Mongolian experience and say you’ve seen it all, this is definitely the tour for you!
