At a glance

Sudan is a country only now beginning to be discovered by foreign visitors. It will be a lifetime before it sees anything like the tourist numbers of neighboring Egypt. This is a huge country with a population of over 35 million people and although some regions are closed off to foreign visitors, Sudan’s northeast is extremely safe. Sudanese people are among the friendliest of any nation and you can expect a hospitable reception throughout this unique Sudan tour.

On this tour of Sudan you will feel like one of the first to explore this ancient land, home of the spellbinding Meroe Pyramids. Khartoum, the capital city is where the Blue Nile and White Nile meet to form the Nile River, and what better place to commence our Sudan tour. The seat of government and centre of commerce, it is where much the urban action is.

From Khartoum, we will travel to Omdurman, Sudan’s second largest city and home a to beautifully colorful market and capital of the Mahdist state after the defeat of the British in 1855 in addition to the Mahdi Tomb. Heading away from the cities, we will continue our Sudan tour in a fleet of 4WD that will take us through sweeping mountains of sand and alien landscapes before exploring the Christian Kingdom of Makuria and the Necropolis of Napata. A particular highlight of this tour will be camping overnight Meroe Pyramids where we will feel like the only people here.
